World Trade Center Buildings
Since 9/11 many Americans have harbored a great deal of anger because of the attack on our country. The memorial at Ground Zero is a great way to remember those who died, but I was worried the government wouldn't develop new real estate there because of its historical and memorial significance.
Walking by ground zero heading downtown every so often I can't help but feel a connection to the site. Honestly I can't say how happy I am they are building bigger and better buildings there with some beautiful courtyards to take the place of what was destroyed. The patriotism of the site inspires me every time I walk by it and I can't be the only one who feels that way.
I am still a student but one day I will work in those buildings, does anyone know what companies plan on renting out parts of the WTC buildings? Does anyone love the architecture and patriotism as much as I do? What does WSO think of the reconstruction?
are you seriously planning to choose your job based on whether they have a office in that building? 0_o
Haha no, but I am interested to know what companies are moving into the buildings, unrelated to where I will work.
I just mean at one point in my life I want to work there, could be tomorrow, could be 30 years, I love the buildings and what they stand for. In general the building I work in couldn't matter less but this just adds some value to an otherwise empty part of employment (for me).
It probably won't be tomorrow
1wtc: Condé Nast, (publisher of gq/vogue/vanity fair/etc) is their anchor tenant (floors 20-45) which kind of sucks. Other than that about a billion law firms and hopefully some IB presence. The official tenant list hasn't been released yet I don't believe.
But agreed it would be sweet to work there.
UBS is thinking about moving their HQ from Stanford to NYC in the new Freedom Tower
They are no longer thinking about it since the company is going down the shitter this year. Also it's Stamford, CT. Stanford is the University.
They were, but I don't think they are any more. Trying to save money wherever possible
If I were to work there, it would have to be on the 1st floor, or bust.
The killing of Bin-Laden and the completion of 1 WTC will give me some peace of mind.
Looking at the building coming up definitely makes me feel patriotic as well.
What happened to Cantor-Fitzgerald? I know they lost about two-thirds of their workforce in 9/11. Very sad. Maybe they have plans to move back to WTC simply as a show of patriotism.
I interned for CF last summer, I dont think they have any plans to relocate from 59th and Park
Someone said that Gatorade is moving some offices into there....but I overheard that from a guy with a heavy Southern accent on the subway last week.
You should have included that it's also going to be 1776 feet, ha.
