Equity Research Summer Analyst

There was a flyer floating around NYU Stern listservs inviting students to apply (by submitting your resume) for a Equity Research Mock Call networking event at the CS office. If you were selected, you were contacted with the information.

There was networking over lunch where you had the chance to speak; it was pretty difficult because they had both Columbia and NYU students together for the event and it was a good 10:1 ratio between students and CS staff.

However, attendance at the event definitely affected your ability to get the interview and the overwhelming majority, of those selected for the interview at NYU (13 in total), also attended the CS event. The first round interview was very untraditional, a very casual 30 minute conversation about your interests and the industries you're interested in. There were no behavioral or technicals involved. I'm assuming the interviewer was gauging fit and your ability to speak eloquently about your interests. It was difficult to tell how you did since there was nothing to really "mess up" on. The interviewer was genuinely very nice and I did not feel pressured in the slightest.
