Simply put, as a company gets more reviews, the confidence of a "true score" increases so it is pulled closer to its simple average and away from the average of the entire dataset.

Interview
Daylong interview Process. You meet with pretty much the whole desk, both salespeople and traders. They ask a ton of behavioral/fit questions, and often walk through your resume. As long as you have a basic understanding of the business and the current state of the market you should be fine.
Interview Questions
There wasn't really anything too difficult. They really just wanted to see if you had a baseline understanding of how the company made money. If I had to pinpoint one tough question, it would be one our cmo trader asked me. He wanted to know what my 6 month and 1 year macro outlook was. I had very little time to think on the spot, so I had to rely on my knowledge of the markets from reading/keeping up with the current news cycle. He really pushed me to go into depth about the different macroeconomic linkages

Interview
Questions were more on fit and interest. No technical questions over the phone. However there is a strong emphasis on middle market investment banking. The interviewer did not sound too interested to talk, but then again neither was I.
Interview Questions
Nothing that really surprised me. Very standard questions, but I just was not (and it showed) too interested.

Interview
I contacted a person there I have known for quite some time to see if there were any open positions within their IBD team. While they had made some recent hires, and weren't openly sourcing candidates at this point, they agreed to set up a time to talk through my background and what I might bring to the table for them. This firm is quite large and my primary contact travels pretty extensively so things took some time to come together. The next step after that first call was the write up a synopsis of what I would bring to the table, in a sense it was my own executive summary and plan of action. The nice part about that was it gave me the opportunity to essentially write my own job description.

The next step here is to line up a call with other team members and potentially schedule an on-site interview, which has yet to take place.
Interview Questions
The toughest question that I wasn't quite prepared for on the first phone call was succinctly articulating my value proposition. This was critical as I had mentioned they are not currently in hiring mode. I took the time to write up a two page executive summary and sent it along to them to circulate among their team. It was a nice exercise that does not come up often, if ever, during a recruiting process.
