Advice Needed: Fair Compensation Package?

Hi all,

I recently received an offer from a small investment advisory firm in Newport Beach for an Analyst position. I will definitely learn a great deal in the investment world and idea of consulting, but I'm wondering if the compensation package is fair or not.

The package includes a 36K salary, performance bonuses (so far they've had 5 $500-$1000 bonuses in 2008), bi-annual salary review, healthcare coverage, 401k, etc. Does this job offer sound reasonable? The salary sounds a bit low from what I've read here on WSO...but it sounds like after a few reviews/bonuses, the salary may grow faster than I would think.

Just to give a bit of background on myself, I graduated from UC Irvine with a degree in Economics. I have worked throughout college at a few part time jobs and am currently at a paid internship at a similar investment management firm (competitor actually).

It's actually Beacon Pointe Advisors, LLC. But yes, I do not have any other offers currently which is why this is kind of tough. And yes, Newport Beach is very expensive to live in. I believe it is one of the most expensive places to live in CA.
