McKinsey first rounds?
Has anyone (undergraduate) heard from McKinsey yet? What office? I applied a few days before the deadline (September 17th, I believe) and just wondering how long they usually take to get back...

They already got back to a lot of my friends :(
At a target, and they haven't even given out first round interview dates yet to us. But I do know they have an accelerated track for most candidates they reach out to during the summer.
What % of applicants do they take and does applying online only work for consulting firms? Is it like 1-2% since there isn't an application fee meant to weed out kids at targets not really interested and just applying for the hell of it? Say you go to a semi target, 3.7 and change, finance related clubs on your resume and a concurrent internship. Also can you get first round interviews for banking through the online app?
McKinsey sent me a finals week Starbucks card, reached out to me over the summer to invite me for a meal with a nearby analyst, and reached out again before application season. I don't intend to brag, and I don't even know if I'll land a business analyst role at McK, but I just want to highlight how most of their roster is filled before applications even start up...
I'd network (as nepotistic / sad as it sounds). Only way I'm still in the game with my sub-par grades is because I impressed the shit out of an engagement manager at McK.
Consulting firms have 3 tiers for applicants:
McK already got back to the choice candidates from what I heard
I don't know where the above guys are getting their info, but I know plenty of applicants with strong academics/ extra-currics/ work experience who knew no one going into the recruiting season at McK, applied online normally (some didn't even have OCR), networked (all cold calls), and managed to land interviews and offers.
McK seems like it is looking for smart people, who are personable, and express real desire (aka don't just apply online and leave it at that).
You can definitely get an offer from a non-target and without personal connections. Just push harder (if it is what you really want)
