Restructuring Analyst at Alvarez & Marsal interview

Hi,

I have first round interview coming up after a HR screening call.

This position is for restructuring analyst at Alvarez & marsal. My background is pig 4 audit.

Anyone have any ideas on what sort of questions that they may ask and any tips on how to be successful.

Thanks

Know the in's and out's of the 4 pigs you audited back in the day. The accounting knowledge will come in handy when speaking as to your transferrable skills.

Should understand differences in tranches of debt and understand the importance of liquidity in a company under distress. Could pm me perhaps I can help more

Make sure you understand how to break down an entire pig, from head to hooves. Would understand the differences between bacon, Canadian bacon and Iberica ham. Finally, make sure you have a bovine joke or two in your back pocket.

God, one fucking typo and now a whole thread is filled to the brim with useless, stupid jokes? If you don’t know the answer to OP’s question, then leave it be until someone who does comes along with an answer. None of you are funny.

I found this thread, OP. You can reach out to the OP there and ask about their experience, maybe they’d be receptive. If you get an answer, please do consider bumping this thread to add a resource for others in the future.

You should understand the mechanics of a 13-week cash flow forecast and how to prepare/review one. You should be generally familiar with the various types of debt and describe some differences between what a 1st and 2nd lien senior secured creditor is. You should know how the mix between cash and PIK interest impacts the debt balance over time. Probably not a bad idea to review what types of recommendations you would make to preserve liquidity for a distress company (RIF, stretching AP, accelerating AR, identifying contribution margins by SKU to see where a business should discontinue certain products, know what a borrowing base is with asset-based lines of credit and some of the risks/benefits companies have with obtaining an ABL facility). This list could really go on....
