Yes- IR. Love it. Tons of executive exposure, buyside and sellside exposure, you're closer to the M&A process, you learn a lot more about the strategy from the top of the company. You go (mostly) to the consumption side of the data rather than putting the data together. It's been a master class of seeing the company though the eyes of the CEO- like being the CEO's chief of staff.

Other perks too- travel on the corporate jet, nice hotels, nice dinners, equity. I've found too that working closely with people who make multiples of my pay has made it easier to get meaningful raises- they don't see it as a big deal. When I was in FP&A, I'd scratch and claw for a few extra $k.

My experience is probably different from others, so take it with a grain of salt. But it's opened my eyes (and a lot of doors)- I don't imagine I'd go back to ops for anything lower than VP level.
