Private Credit Groups in BBs

Greetings fellow monkeys and non-monkeys, I am looking to gather some information regarding Private Credit arms of BBs.
I am aware that GS and MS have small teams that do DL or more junior financing, but I haven't heard much about other BBs (Citi, DB, JPM, BoA).

  • Do they have their own PC teams as well? Do they mostly do DL or they cover the entire capital structure?
  • How does the work differ there from for instance a PC fund?
  • Is it doable joining them as a Junior Analyst?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Great day

Based on the WSO Dataset, while Goldman Sachs (GS) and Morgan Stanley (MS) are known to have smaller teams focusing on direct lending (DL) and junior financing, the presence and structure of Private Credit (PC) teams at other bulge bracket banks like Citi, Deutsche Bank (DB), JPMorgan (JPM), and Bank of America (BoA) can vary. Here’s a breakdown of what you might expect:

  1. Presence of PC Teams at Other BBs:

    • While specific details about each bank's PC operations aren't detailed in the provided context, it's common for large banks to have divisions dedicated to different aspects of private credit. These can range from direct lending to mezzanine financing and distressed debt.
  2. Coverage and Focus:

    • The extent to which these banks cover the entire capital structure can differ. Some might focus more on senior debt, while others might offer a full suite from senior to mezzanine and distressed debt. The focus often depends on the bank's strategy, market conditions, and internal expertise.
  3. Work Difference Compared to PC Funds:

    • Working in a PC team within a bulge bracket bank might involve more integration with other bank departments and possibly a broader range of products compared to a dedicated PC fund. The scale and resources of a large bank can also mean more significant deal sizes and possibly more conservative risk profiles.
  4. Joining as a Junior Analyst:

    • Joining these teams as a Junior Analyst is typically feasible, especially if you have relevant internships or academic background. Recruitment might be competitive, often favoring candidates with experience in investment banking, leveraged finance, or related fields.

For more specific insights, consider networking with professionals currently working in these banks' PC teams or participating in relevant discussions and Q&A sessions on platforms like Wall Street Oasis. This can provide you with up-to-date and bank-specific information.
