Bickering in need of modding
My dearest forum admins,
For the love of Jobu, can someone please stop Dan Bush and zala rules from bitching at each other for 10 consecutive posts in EVERY thread? One-line rants of nastyness the likes of which I haven't seen since high school are just killing readability here. The interesting posters on the site take up half the rest of the posts responding (admirably) to the raging stupidity they're confronted with, dumbing down everything for the rest of us.
Help. I beseech thee.

won't happen, freedom of speech :P, a few solutions tho:
-can make a sticky saying that bad fellowship would be deleted. -can add an ignore list where you can add users who you don't want to hear from
Not a lawyer but surely the only 'freedom of speech' you can enjoy on a privately owned website is at the discretion of the owners (and their agents).
As already suggested by previous poster, a little bit of moderating now and then would be welcome. Otherwise checking in here could become a total waste of time. Aspiringmonkey's suggestions are also not bad if the site doesn't have the resources to moderate.
...we agree with you and are working on it. As a start, a user named RogueBanker was put on probation (for a few days) and Anonymous Monkeys are now not allowed to post. We have been making an effort to keep the discussion productive and will continue to do so.
Note, we will put other users on probation if their comments get too far out of line. On the other hand, we do not want to censor too much.
As an aside, we now have a private messaging / email capability so you can send messages to users to touch base, try and network, etc.
I appreciate all the efforts you're making in this regard. My intent is only to help you out, because we have the same goal - making this a good site with a good signal/noise ratio.
Surely, the last 50 or so posts of Dan Bush don't exactly comprise what you're looking for here. I'm talking about stuff like this (from the Lifters in IB thread):
"Dude, just shut your fucking mouth. You're a fucking shithead ass fuck douche."
I think that needs no commentary. My only point is that that is typical of him - and of pretty much nobody else on this forum. Speaking as a forum administrator at several other sites, my two cents would be that I have found a two-week "timeout" to be particularly useful in filtering the (A) dedicated posters who love the site and are just over the line a little too much, from the (B) immature trolls who will wander off to another location if they can't get instant gratification here.
Thanks for your consideration, D
There are some rude people here, but that's what always happens on message boards. There may be nothing worth doing about it.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well. The same is true of an online community. There is certainly stuff the mods COULD do, and we are saying they ought to. Throwing up your hands and saying "that's what always happens" is a passive, defeatist attitude. There's no need to tolerate the Dan Bushes of the internet - least of all at a place like this. This isn't the MTV forums here.
