Citi - WTF???

Even though I never wanted to make such a post, I have to say that I find the conditions at Citi simply unacceptable and therefore would like to report to those who have not been aware of this so that they can make their decisions for FT or internship on a more informed basis.

Since I, unfortunately, don't have much time at the moment, here are the points that make Citi one of the worst BBs to work for.
1. Citi doesn't provide a laptop for FT or internship
2. Citi doesn't provide a phone for interns
3. FT employees can get a work phone which is a shitty Samsung
4. The meal stipend is only 22.5 and the new delivery system that was implemented has literally zero options and costs more than Deliveroo which we had before
5. Interns don't get a corporate card (they were supposed to be reimbursed 6 weeks after the internship) - I was told that some still haven't received the money for the expenses from summer 22
6. Citi stopped giving out duffle bags like 2 years ago for interns and analysts...
7. More to come

I look forward to hearing about your experiences with Citi!

Controversial

Reeks of entitlement. People are being killed by earthquakes, missiles, and starvation - and you're pissed that you aren't getting a corporate duffle bag, are only being compensated 22.50 for your free meal, and have to get by with a Samsung instead of an iPhone? Newsflash bud - you won't be a net value add for another few years. This is a learning experience.

1. shit
2. okay
3. okay
4. shit I guess
5. normal, but the thing about reimbursment is shit
6. okay, just buy it

Ridiculous post. Here's why:

1. You get a computer to work from at your desk in the office. Why do you need a laptop? If you need to work from home, you log into the virtual desktop.

2. You don't need a phone either. You use the Blackberry apps. There you go, now your phone has everything on it and you don't need to be cumbersome and carry around two. Want to switch off? Okay, log out of those apps then.

3. As above, you do not need a work phone. You can choose to get one.

4. I don't care.

5. Why would you get a corporate card as an intern!? Reimbursements have been made btw for all interns, just took a while.

6. Complete non-issue.

7. Looking forward to debunking more of your shitty takes.

As someone who has worked their FT, I wish I could have put things on a personal card.  Would have been more than happy to get those credit card points!

Meals sounds low — not sure if that’s correct.

Aren’t you going to be in office as an intern??  And don’t you likely have a laptop if you need to log in from home?

You’re there for 10 weeks, do you really need a separate phone?  I have one that I never use, I literally use it only if I need to call a client internationally or if I have a lot going on and am out and want to have it so I can look at a deck on one phone and respond in email on the other.

With regards to the laptop - Citi is, or at least used to be, VERY strict on intern hours. They're not not giving you a laptop because they are trying to make you buy one, it's so that interns don't go home and work all day Saturday without approval, or be sent home by the team at 10pm but still hang around online at home until 3am. Both things that interns do... so they try to control hours. Most banks do not provide FTs laptops FYI, you can work from any device (even a Mac, tho wouldn't recommend it) with a virtual desktop.

Most people prefer to have Work app instead of 2 phones if given the option

That said, yeah Citi is cheap but if this is news to you the next 2 years are gonna be very rough

Most of his points are completely dumb, these points are the same as literally every other bank across the street. What bank provides a corporate card for interns? Or a second phone? Lmfao

At least Citi pays their analysts well. MS and JPM are paying analysts complete dogshit

Lmfao, what a joke. I'm interning at GS in Europe right now and have done internships at several other banks and PE firms before. None of the conditions you are describing are uncommon.

1. GS doesn't give out a laptop either, but you do have virtual desktop from your own laptop. Pretty nice to not drag a laptop to and from the office every day.

2. I have never been at a place that provides a phone for interns. Why would you even need a separate work phone? Must be a real pain to walk around with 2 phones all the time when you can easily access outlook and teams from your own phone.

3. Again, can't see why you would want a separate phone as a junior employee. It's not like people will be calling you on your phone a lot and you can access outlook / teams on your private phone.

4. The meal stipend isn't very bad compared to what I've experienced in other places. It has been €25-35 at all the places I've been at. Sucks to have a bad delivery system though.

5. Never heard of a place that provides a corporate card for interns.

6. Buy your own fukkin duffle bag u cheap fukk

If your firm doesn't give you a laptop that's a huge red flag.

Reimbursements should be more timely, stipend should be a little higher tbh.

The rest are perks that don't make or break a bank.

JPM FT does give reimbursements for new laptops and other perks, for interns you get a duffel bag and mug.

im at another bb and we dont get laptops.  just remote in from your personal computer.  desktop computers at the office that work well.

you can literally buy a cheap 300 dollar laptop to remote in from home if you somehow DONT OWN A COMPUTER IN 2023.

Currently work here as A1 (ignore title).

1. For FT they do provide a laptop but they give it to you months in after you've probably already invested in one, and the one they give sucks ass

3. You really don't do much on your work phone so NBD

4. Seamless / corporate card allowance is $25 for dinnner

6. We got duffle bags for FT

no duffle? not a BB

fuck yall who say this is entitlement - how about you choke on my collection of f1 keys
