Corporate Banking or Valuation?
It is looking like I might have a choice between Valuation Analyst at a D&P/HL shop or Corporate Banking Analyst at a BB. Which would provide a better platform to transition to an IB Analyst position after a year? Houston market.
My 2 cents: valuation would position you better. Especially at a shop like HL and D&P.
Valuation provides a very strong foundation on the technical aspects of the gig. The gap for you will be the other knowledge/skills required. For example, if we're talking strictly M&A, you won't have much exposure tot he M&A process (e.g. pitchbooks, CIMs, MPs, and the entire sells-side process) in valuation, but you would have the technical prowess to do the job.
I am at a small MM bank now and we have our own valuation shop and have seen a good amount of people transition from valuation to MM IB
That's what I was assuming - Valuation would give me more of the technical skills while Corporate Banking would be a bit more similar in terms of the deal process. Thanks
Houston HL is supposed to be top-notch.
Anyone else with some insight?
Look I've never passed a class in my life but I think I can relate to a shitty situations like yours. When my brah only got bids to two shit bottom tier frats on campus, he couldn't decide which one sucked less. So instead, he got his rich, baller dad to buy him a new Mercedes so he could leverage his way into a better frat. That's what you need to do my guy, hit up your rich dad and ask him to compensate for your shortcomings and looming failures.
Np bro
Ah I hadn't tried that yet. I'll give it a shot

Sorry if you already read my other post but I have a slightly different question this time.
I recently received two full time offers and I am having a hard time deciding between the two. Eventually I would like to move into MM M&A and a top 15 MBA program (I am from a non target with 3.6GPA and 710 GMAT); which of these two options would set me up with the best chance of achieving those goals?
2.Valuation Analyst (PPAs and Intangible impairment testing for large companies) at a company very similar to Croft and Bender
Thanks.
