For the summer

Hey,

I have a IBD internship this summer. Could you guys please tell me some websites from which I can learn some relevant accounting concepts. My school does not offer many accounting classes and I want to be at least somewhat prepared for the summer.

Also, how exactly do you get better at Excel and Powerpoint?

Thanks a ton!

It depends... Imagine your fellow interns in your team all have a finance background and an outstanding knowledge of powerpoint and excel... You are going to be benchmarked against them...

In that case who will get the offer? The 'weak' intern or the 'strong ' intern?

2 out of the 3 kids I know who didn't get offers were Finance majors. One of them was a modelling genius, who was also stuck-up as crap about it and was an awful team worker. So there is a lot more than just finance skills.

As a summer you'll be doing a lot of bitch work anyway, and you will learn the accounting and finance you need. Powerpoint and excel are both important, but again, you can easily pick it up during the summer. It's not about how much you know going in, but how much you've learned once you're done.
