GS Phone Interview

I was just wondering if anyone could help me out and let me know the types of things I should be prepared for in my GS phone interview for and summer position which is coming up. While this will not be my first financial interview it will be my first IB interview. Thanks in advance.

Use a landline if you can and have a speakerphone ready. That way you won't get lost on the call, and you'll have your hands free to do things. The ib interview at GS is kind of intense; if you speak another language, I'd be prepared to do that on the spot (I had half my interview conducted in French).

Phone interviews are very tricky because you have no real gauge on what the interview is thinking/doing/smiling/etc. Just remember to speak slowly and clearly. You can expect similar questions on a phone interview as you would at a regular interview.

Well when they called me I did say I was gonna be around and I said what ever they preferred would be what I would do. Which may have been a mistake i don't really know. So they said they would prefer the phone so i agreed. Thanks for the help. Does anyone have any other tips?

If they specifically stated a preference for the phone, don't worry about it. When I interviewed, my contact (an Associate) told me to book a fight right away and request an in-person first round.

Regardless, have plenty of examples about teamwork, leadership, etc…Know the basics, Why Goldman? Why IB? Etc. Its nothing too complex dude, just keep your cool and give them good answers.
