How "Rigged" is Group Placement Process?

As group placement kicks off, I'd love to hear about everyone's experiences throughout the process and any insider advice. I've heard some people saying they got screwed over by HR, claiming that all interns are already "pre-selected" for groups even before the placement process starts. Also, are interviewers from your SD already interviewing/judging you for their group, while we, as upcoming interns, are the only ones unaware? How true is all of that? Thanks in advance!

Yeah group placements are pretty much out of your hands. But you will be rotating around a bunch (depending on your program). I started in healthcare, hated it, then got moved to TMT later and really found it far more interesting.
Don’t worry too much about placements, you are just learning the basics.

Best of luck.
