Internship in MM PE or MM IB to get into BB LevFin in London?
What's good, WSO?
I have the options of doing a spring off-cycle internship at either a MM PE or at a top regional MM IB (neither is in London). My goal is to get into LevFin in London, what internship would be more beneficial?
I am at a target and did an SA in second tier IB with a return offer from a credit-related IBD group I am not sure I wanna go into, but would be open to start and lateral to LevFin after 1 year.
The way I see it is that the IB would give me solid modeling skills, and they do a majority of PE deals, although PE is a good way to get experience from buyside but risk of getting less real training in modeling.
What kind of deals will your team do in the MM PE, LBO or growth equity?
Mainly LBO's.
My concern is though that they are near the the end of capital in their latest fund, and I obviously want deal exposure. A director I interviewed with told me that "without making any promises, it looks like the spring could be very active", but I don't know.
PE for levfin
Thanks! Are you saying that it does not matter that it is not in London, and that there is risk of less modelling than in IB?
