JPM 2023 Investment Banking Analyst - Early Career

I saw that JPM posted for this role two days ago, and an insane 800+ applicants have dropped their resume in already. This seems to be similar to last year's 2022 Early Career posting. Anyone have any insights into how this will work and what the timeline of the recruiting is like? I feel that networking would be useless here given JPM's restrictions on it, so not sure what to do to show my preference for one group over the other.

Hopefully this thread can serve as a place for discussion for everyone applying. Best of luck to everyone!

Had a question about the early career program and was wondering if anyone could help me out.

Applied for the recent early careers IB application and received a hirevu. I was about to complete the hirevu today but got an email from the early careers team saying my application eligibility does not meet the March cohort. They said they would defer my application until the anticipated summer cohort.

I am currently a senior- is the march cohort planning to start immediately in March? If I join the summer cohort, will I join other first year analysts or immediately hit the desk?

It cant hurt to apply but I doubt you'll beat out most candidates with 2 YOE.

Who traditionally gets spots from this program? The posting said like class of 2018 to 2023 lmao so is it mostly new grads or is this supposed to be separately mainly for experienced professionals? It also mentions having ib experience is a plus. I started in ib and then left and applied to the program to get back in lmao I guess we’ll see

From the job description it seems to be directed towards those who are experienced, or even from Big 4 TAS backgrounds.

I noticed that the positions in LA, ATL, and DAL were listed as the Regional Investment Bank anyone have any insight on these specific locations?

To be honest any group that was available lol. I chose NY, but I'm really curious what kind of people they were looking where I didn't even get a hirevue. Maybe it's because I applied last year / have less than a year of exp in IB?

No. I haven't gotten rejected yet, so I'm keeping that as hopefully a positive sign. I wonder if this time around the Hirevue is selective. Seems like based on prior threads of the early career program it may have been unlike the standard JPM process.

People who got rejected already, did you need sponsorship or did you graduate more than 3 years ago? Was your GPA above a 3.5? Wondering if it was an auto reject for those individuals. Also, the posting on the JPM website said we had to apply before 12/28 at midnight yet still allows people to submit new apps? I applied on 12/30 and was wondering if I'd still be considered. Maybe some of you guys applied too late for the posting?

Yeah it's so weird man. At least we haven't gotten rejected yet. Just gotta be patient I guess. It's still a holiday today, so hopefully we hear something this week for the Hirevue.

Also, the posting on the JPM website said we had to apply before 12/28

The website said 12/28/2023

Have not gotten rejected yet.. they said I don’t need a HireVue since I did one for a similar position.

Not sure if you're the same Intern posting in this thread but if you get a hirevue or if people get it, people will say it. Relax, you submitted your application and will hear back if they want you. Just check the portal and email every day for any potential updates

Same, also got the hirevue - this was yesterday. I see no deadline for the hirevue so I'm assuming it's something to do ASAP?

Wondering this too. Maybe it's done in pools where they separate current IBers vs those with only IB SA experience. I haven't gotten rejected yet, so I'll still keep hope. I think the Hirevues are probably selective for this program

Are you a current analyst or you a recent graduate/in college? Seems like they’re looking for laterals then this round since everyone who got a Hirevue so far is a current analyst. Anyone who did IB SA this past summer get Hirevue?

Yep. I'm surprised they would think to send this out to people after before completing the Hirevue. For reference I did complete it the evening before

I'll be beyond upset if I get rejected from the process after going to the info session and submitting the hirevue, I feel we're pretty much guaranteed super days right?

Anyone get an email that they're not eligible for the March 2023 hiring cohort and instead will be considered in the summer? Looks like they're looking for laterals for immediate hire and then current seniors and recent graduates later

Got the same exact thing. Graduating in May. I was invited to superday back in Aug for their FT application but it got cancelled

So this whole march 2023 cohort thing does that mean people who get offers start in march? Thought it’d still be a start date in June or July with all the other incoming analysts

Got it. Do you know if we will still be considered for other cohorts if not selected this round? Ex. Not a superday candidate for march 2023 but maybe for the summer rounds

Seems like it’s going to be super competitive given only 3 groups are hiring…

I listened in to HR speaking prior to the official start, it seems ~60 joined earlier which was about 50% of the total candidates. The potential candidates might be shaved off by a very large amount after the Hirevues are reviewed.

I don't even know whether HR is running the whole process with HireVue review or groups will be reviewing resumes and choosing? Seems like very HR focused process

Just received my deferral email confirmation so you guys should be finding out if your going to the next round pretty soon probably.

Deferred. I almost guessed it would happen when JPM sent the email yesterday about CRB not participating in the process anymore

Got the deferral email. I’m guessing they’re really only looking for super experienced laterals this round, prolly with prior healthcare or C&R experience

Congrats bud! What’d you put as your first choice? I had HC and C&R as my choices, unfortunately C&R pulled out and I guess HC didn’t work out

SD invites were apparently sent out last Friday, including people who got rejected/deferred. Think everyone who didn’t get a SD invite, got automatically deferred.
