LA EBs for Career Bankers
Hey all - currently an ASO1 at a GS/MS/JPM NY. I enjoy the job and can see myself pursuing the MD track, but I'm looking to make a move out to LA (spent part of my childhood in SoCal and fiance's family is in SoCal), and am primarily looking at lateraling to a boutique (mainly for the comp and more focus on advisory over other products). I'm currently in a "vanilla" coverage group (eg. C&R/Industrials/TMT), and am pretty agnostic with what industry I want to cover in the long run. I've seen a lot on this forum about the LA offices from the perspective of prospectives and analysts (e.g. exits-focused discussions), but would appreciate any insight about the different offices from a career development/upwards-mobility perspective. Thanks!
Fwiw, I’ve heard Rothschild LA is kinda toxic
Seconded, not as bad as HL LA but the culture there isn't great.
