Dependent on the bank. Some banks like GS have FIG as a top group, so you'd want to be there for example. Some banks like DB have LevFin as their top group so you'd rather be there. Sadly there simply isn't a one-size-fits-all answer here.

Okay so cool, will just run down for both the mid-tier American BBs. BOFA LevFin has good deal flow and very solid PC & PE exits and their FIG team is just okay and not a top FIG group, so would take LevFin here. Citi LevFin has good PC exits and MM PE exits, but their FIG group focuses primarily on insurance & banking so naturally less traditional modeling with most exits being to MM PE and corp dev, so would take LevFin here as well. Hope that was helpful.

Very helpful sir, thank you. Wondering since exits are better, would it also mean LevFin would give me better chances to lateral to a different coverage group?

Honestly no idea, better idea to lateral to a different bank than a different group IMO. Most banks make you wait 2 years before you lateral groups, and by then you miss out on the big PE hiring sprees for UMM/MF. Have you already been placed into either of the groups? If not, I would highly suggest networking very hard to get into the groups you want to end up in. If you have already been placed at a group, then I would look to re-recruit FT or try to switch groups for full-time.

Haven't placed yet but I have been told switching groups after SA going into FT won't be too much of an issue
