No signing bonus for first year analyst
Hey, I’m a senior in college and I signed a full time investment banking offer with a non-us bank in NYC. Base is on par with what most other banks are now paying an1 but no signing or relocation bonus was offered. I tried negotiating but was unsuccessful and was told that was simply what was offered to the class. I have also heard that bonuses at this bank are pretty low relative to street. i spent a lot of time recruiting and am glad to finally have an IB offer but I know I can do much better in terms of pay and am kind of resentful that my bank is being so cheap. In fact, I’m already thinking about leaving within a year.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity and know that I have so much to learn. It’s just I’m basically a broke college student, how tf am I supposed to get the funds to move and start a new job in a new city. I would have loved some sort of stipend to pay for moving costs, a security deposit/first months rent for an apartment, professional attire, etc.
As I’m about to graduate in a month or so and start in another couple, I’m trying to save money and find ways to pay for all this. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do? I’ve considered taking out a credit card or some sort of personal loan and those seem to be my best options rn. However, I don’t have a credit score. I can’t renegotiate with the firm or ask them again as I’ve already signed and that was a while ago. My parents don’t have a lot of money and can’t really help me. I would appreciate any advice, thank you.
If you can find a gig as a waiter at a local restaurant, you can usually score well on tips. Bus boys in my area typically also get paid pretty well. Have a friend working as a waiter part-time that has yet to book less than $28-30 an hour including tips.
Good luck!

Ah Credit Argicole huh, jokes aside, learn whatever you can and you can always lateral. If it's your only offer, better to take it than nothing. Best of luck mate
DM me
I’m assuming it’s CA… DM if that’s the case
