Pivot from RE analyst to IB without MBA?

1 year into a job in a fairly well-regarded debt RE group (3B AUM). Haven't been as happy as I thought i'd be in the RE industry. Have asked around and gotten mixed responses, but wondering if there's precedent for someone to pivot from my industry into pure IB (not looking for PE) without transitioning via MBA.

Also, not looking to do real estate IB. Hoping to do M&A or RX. I attended a H/Y/P, and feel as though I know as much as my classmates who are in IB, so I'm moreso wondering if employers are open to it/don't hold my RE background against me.

Thoughts? Thanks.

Answer: You wont make it into IB now for the same reason you couldn't break in during undergrad. You don't have the chutzpah, people end up where they belong. Real estate is more your speed. You're a real estate guy, own it. The hours at those little mortgage broker botiques are solid anyway, enjoy it the perks.
