Seeking Advice - PWM to IB/S&T
Hi WSO,
I'm an Incoming PWM Analyst at a NYC BB from a non-target (high GPA/strong extracurriculars) seeking advice.
I'm extremely excited to start my career, but I eventually want to switch into an IB/S&T type role. I noticed that I wanted to do this at the end of my PWM SA stint, but was unsuccessful in making the switch for FT due to obvious poor market conditions.
A lot of people I speak to keep telling me how PWM is a hidden gem. Would I be shooting myself in the foot by leaving PWM?
I'm very confused on what to do next and which role is right for me. Is moving to Capital Markets or S&T (sales) possible? Should I aim to transfer within the same BB or join a different bank?
I want to make a career on the sell side and am currently not interested in going to the buy side.
Please share any advice, opinions, or insight. Thank you!

I'll literally trade places with you...IB is horrible and exits are overrated.
Do you mind sharing further? Many people have told me that PWM is the exit opp
Wish I never had went into into IB but this forum disagrees and will throw MS at me.
Sorry to hear that man, I'm sure your experience in IB will help you switch eventually
