Wells Reputation
Can I get any insight on how the street views Wells IBD? I know people some people shit on them but how's pay, exits, and prestige? I know they're making the switch to hudson yards and have even seen them grouped in as a BB. Thanks

Spent quite a bit of time getting to know the guys and now I regularly have weekly chats with and associates there. It’s a great bank and a growing name. It’s growing almost as fast as RBC. The that most people have is charlotte. The nyc office is big but the bank still runs out of Charlotte. As for pat it’s in line with street and living in Charlotte that can go a long way. Also I have met plenty of people there that exited well. All MM I think, tho I know one guy that turned down a MF to do VC. Weird
Any idea on top groups? Preferably NYC
Wells IBD was in the top spots for many of the categories in the lastest WSO report. Despite the latest bad press, it seems like it is moving in the right direction.
Wells is the big show in Charlotte. Keep that in mind - some people love the lower cost of living and southern lifestyle, but the downside is decreased exit ops. Some people feel Charlotte is too small as well.
For exits stick to LevFin, Sponsors, or NYC M&A, and lastly if you can swing into their REIB group @ Eastdil Secured (not the brokerage side but the ex Wachovia REIB team). Comp is on par with BB.
Eastil Secured pays less than wells fargo securities.. My roomates works there.
you are referring to the brokerage side, please refer to my comment above and reread.
Highly revered by many of the people I know who live in the south, definitely a bigger name than BAML down in Charlotte (even tho BoA is headquartered there). Most of the IB is run out of Charlotte, much less up here
FWIW, Bank of America moved all IB up to NYC
Wells Reputation For LevFin? (Originally Posted: 06/18/2018)
I know that typically banks with large balance sheets have strong LevFin teams, except I haven't read/heard much about Wells Fargo's LevFin team? The only thing I can think of is the conservative nature of the bank not letting them throw their money around as much as the other banks. How are they compared to the likes of JPM/BAML/Citi/CS, or RBC, in terms of pay, exit opps, culture, deal flow? Any input is appreciated.
