would it be stupid?
Would it be stupid to put a consulting group that I am working with during the school year on my resume if I am applying to I-banks?

Nope. Depending on the consulting group, I think that might be a good idea.
It is a student run group at the University of Illinois at Urbana.
Not to pile on the questions, but I've been hearing a lot of negativity about private wealth management internships. Is this the general consensus in the HR departments and among bankers?
I turned away a few good offers for a PWM internship last summer at one of the better banks in Chicago. I did extremely well there. Are people going to think that I'm full of it if I talk about how challenging it was?
PWM internships at say Merrill Lynch or Morgan Stanley regional offices are, for the most part, BS.
Maybe, your experience was business, but you will definitely have to convince whomever is interviewing you that you're not full of sh!t
Yes. And tell a story about how you like the analytical work, but want it to be more finance oriented, etc.
PWM is better than nothing. At least it shows that you wanted to work in finance, and interviewers understand that you probably took the closest you could get to banking. Also, do not talk badly of your experience. Just say, I liked the people, the work was good, but I am looking into getting into something more technical, blah blah blah.
