CRE Lending to Infrastructure / PF

Been very interested in "real" assets the past few years. Just finished my second year with a real estate lending group doing mostly asset management / some exposure to underwriting (group is on the smaller side), and while some deals I work on are interesting, real estate so far hasn't really scratched the itch.

Basically, I'm trying to figure out the best way to get into infrastructure, renewables, project finance etc. without sacrificing too much in terms of comp and seniority (within reason, obviously). Should I aim for a real estate role in IBD and try to lateral into another group after a year or two? Or jump ship asap into the most relevant role I can find? e.g., project finance at a renewables developer - seems like those roles are everywhere but no idea what the comp or even the interview would look like. Or third option, should I give up and spend the rest of my life updating summaries on barely-performing Sun Belt multifamily? My job may be boring, but a lot of people have boring jobs that are also extremely demanding and pay absolute dogshit, so maybe I should just take the W.

Curious if anyone here has made the switch from CRE to infra / PF or knows of someone who has. Semi-relevant stray thoughts also welcome.
