from alternative investment to IBD?
hi everyone,
is it uncommon to transfer from alternative investment division to investment banking division once you start working?
i am thinking of doing my summer internship in alternative investment division but will be applying for a full-time job in IBD in 2011.
is this a bad idea? please educate me
Ideally you should intern where you want to work, but that is not always possible.
My suggestion is to work really hard in your existing role to get great recommendations. In addition, make sure you network before, during and after the internship as much as possible. It's tough getting in during full-time but not impossible.
