Graduated in May, Studying for Series exams and wanting to be an analyst

So here is my story: I graduated college back in may from a non-target school with a degree in Psychology, minor in Economics, and a focus in Finance. After graduating though I decided to take some time off and went to Europe for a few months before returning back home. Now that I was back, I started my job hunt. However, I really didn't know what direction to go because I knew so little about the industry. I knew I wanted become an analyst in the investment banking industry and go from there, but I had/have no idea how to even break in. So I decided as a fall back I would just follow in my father's footsteps and go the Financial Advisor route since he has had an extremely successful career.

Currently, my situation is that I am studying for my Series 63 and 7, and beginning to study for the CFA L1. What I wanted to know, is what would my best steps be to take, and how would I best position myself to move into and be noticed in the investment banking industry? I know its where I want to be, and that is why I want to attain my CFA L1. But I am struggling to find a way to go about tackling this. Would getting a CFA even help in my case? any advice would be much appreciated.
