l.a. opportunities for entry level

Really looking for some perspectives on the greater l.a.'s entry level or interns of Equity Research or related field. Compared with the big apple, what l.a. can offer is a) a lot less b)slightly less?? My career path has been delayed due to my immigration status but now i have some confidence to tackle it before this summer, hopefully cfa level 2 as well. As I said, I have had a long gap without any working experience to be filled in my resume, do you think it's a good idea to move to the west coast to start up according to my situation? I got the bachelor degree of econ from a huge-sized midwest university ranks around 50. Thx!
