I am going in for a newbie accounting position at Wachovia. The interviewer told me to expect a test on Quickbooks and Excel. Has anybody taken this preliminary test? I'd like to know what to expect if somebody has experience with this.
I've never had to take a skills test, but I imagine that if you know the basic functions of QuickBooks Pro and some formula functions in Excel, you may do fine.

You could be asked to construct a balance sheet or income statement in Excel given raw financial data.
Like I said, I've not encountered this before, but if I was the employer doing the testing, this is what I'd want the applicant to know.
(I hold a master's in HR, so I kind of have an insider view of what the recruiters and hiring managers would want to see in an applicant.)
