What Finance Career to Pursue
Canadian currently finishing my third year of university (in Canada). I have spent the last three years pursuing a BA (not finance-related at all)--my goal for a long time was to be a record executive, start a music publishing or distribution company; you get the idea. Have come to realize that I no longer want to pursue this path at all. I've been surrounded by finance forever because of family and now my circles, and I'm fascinated by the markets and love economics and geopolitics. I have interned in PWM and will obviously leverage this experience to show my interest in finance, but don't want to go into it long-term. Much more interested in HF but aware that it might be a shot in the dark to work my way there. I think it's too late for me to switch to a finance or econ degree, so do I continue working in PWM after grad and then get something like an MFin to try and enter IB or AM? Or would this be a waste of time and $, and would getting more work experience than an MBA be a better decision?
