Hey guys,
I'm interested in finance and will have my BS in finance December of 2016. Let me start by saying I'm not the average undergrad. I just turned 27, I'm sure this hurts how well I can get into the finance world but to what extent? I went Army Reserves right out of high school and started a business that I ran for the next five years. I changed everything by selling my business, enrolling in school full time, and I am now a real estate agent. I'm interested in IB, PE, and CF so far. Currently looking into an internship for next summer. After undergrad, I'm interested in a JD, MBA, MSF, or possibly a dual degree. Wanting to gain all the knowledge I can from everyone on this site. All advice encouraged!
What school? if you are at a good school you shouldn't have any issues.

I think your story is great and one that should be shared if the opportunity comes up! While you may not be the average student IB's look for, you do bring forth a lot of great qualities that will be considered. Many students attend college with their parents' money, concentrate on school, and get out into the field because of their stellar GPA, connections, etc. From what I can tell, you took responsibility and worked to where you are today. Since you are already a real estate agent and have knowledge about it, you should consider going into that sector. If you apply to internships with IBs or PEs that revolve around real estate, you might be able to land a good one. Good luck with everything!
Your work experience might have helped you make better choices regarding major and careers. If you can tell that story convincingly, that can give you a competitive edge.
