Non-Target but still breaking in
Hey there, I'm currently a Freshman at the U of Iowa.. An extremely liberal arts oriented and researched based school, not finance or economics heavy. I'm an Econ Major. However we have a small organization called the hawkensen Institute which is a club of 20 undergrads within the college of business all trained and prepped for the "pre-Wallstreet route" of investment banking. Last year 100% landed Jobs/ Internships throughout New York & Chicago with Goldman, Morgan, Wells, UBS, etc.. I will become apart of this club first semester next year in attempts to increase my chances of breaking into the business, hopefully next year by landing an internship with a Large ABC bank.
This summer I am interning with ING to try and get some accredited backing of this industry under my belt. I'm apart of The university student government, 3.4+ GPA, Division 1 Student athlete, Track & Field, and a shit ton of committees and nonsense to legitimize my resume... Being a new-bee not at Harvard or Penn, What else could I possibly do to give myself a leg up throughout this entire process ? Thanks
