Summer Opportunities

Which would you take of the following summer opportunities:

- Investment Banking General at Barclays (likely healthcare/power & utilities)
- Investment Banking General at Citi (likely healthcare, although will try for M&A)
- Leveraged Finance (part of Global Capital Markets) at Morgan Stanley
- Alternative Investment Internship at BlackRock

I'm looking mainly for exit opportunities, and I know it's group dependent for each bank so I've listed where I think I'd end up. I know you should network to get a better idea, and I'm already in the process for that. Please share your ideas, and I'd appreciate any insight - especially in regards to groups e.g. "healthcare at Citi is particularly strong/weak," and exit opps., as previously mentioned.

Let me know your thoughts y'all.

Morgan Stanley. I know a guy who used to work at MS GCM - LevFin and he now works for a $3B credit fund.

Robert Clayton Dean: What is happening? Brill: I blew up the building. Robert Clayton Dean: Why? Brill: Because you made a phone call.

What kind of exit opps? PE/HF/AM? Where in BAI would you be? BAI is quite large and has numerous subgroups...

not to sound too ignorant (although I am), I know VC/PE are fairly different experiences and require different skills so exit opps would be different for each opportunity. I'm taking a look around Barclays today, so I'll have an insider's perspective.

Out of BAI PE FofF, its possible you could have some PE exits (although not top tier). It depends if you get work on any co-invest deals.

Out of HFoF, exit ops are weak.

Definitely don't take BAI if that is your goal.

Unless you can get GCM to guarantee you Lev Fin, definitely take Citi. If you get GCM ECM or IG or some random group, exit ops will be non existent. Even out of lev fin, they won't be amazing, but they might be okay. you'll get very little modeling experience, so pe/hf will be very tough, but the MS brand will probably get you in the door somewhere...

for group offers: If you get no group offers from Citi and have GCM Lev Fin, maybe take that. Citi M&A, Telecom, Media, Industrials, FEG, take over Lev Fin
