Anyone else hate people from Middle America?

I'm a born and bred New Yorker, went to a target in CA and now work on Wall Street. I'm incredibly disappointed in seeing all these fat people from Ohio and Tennessee and roaming around in my cosmopolitan city. I meet a few analysts that somehow made it in from these crappy states in the south and midwest and are extremely uncultured and dumb and make uncouth racist comments in the open. Anyone else wished they stayed in their lane and worked at a used car dealership in their small hick town and left the big city for the actual smart people?

Aren't you from Iowa? lol. Talk about an inferiority complex. But to the OP, I agree. I came to NY to get away from these brute assholes from HS in these towns, hate seeing these people in the city.

Although NYC certainly has a high proportion of educated talented people, it's attitude like this that really makes Americans hate NYC. First, the notion that NYCers are less racist and more tolerant than middle America is a liberal myth. Yes, NYC is racially diverse, but people hang out with those who are similar to them. The same affluent white yuppies who voted for Obama and preach racial tolerance and equality, only associate with other white yuppies, vacation in the Hamptons during the summer, post obnoxious photos on Facebook of their most recent exotic travels and sushi dinners, and only date others who are just like them. "Diversity" and "tolerance" are liberal buzz words that have very little meaning in the real world.

The problem is that people suck in general. Sure New Yorkers might avoid some undesirable behaviors that hicks have but they adopt new ones that aren't radically better. No need to discriminate, everyone sucks.

#MisanthropyIsEqualIntolerance

Yup. Human beings are the most wretched creatures on Earth.

In general, I would agree that a large percentage of the people from middle America suck. However, the ones who make it to New York are generally the exceptions. The people who want to stay in Alabama or can't find a way out are the people you really want to avoid. Of course, there are diamonds in the rough anywhere you go, so it's not an ironclad statement.

I also agree with the above comment that people generally suck everywhere. If you ever doubt that, take a ride on the subway as a reminder.

Troll post for sure. You can find rednecks in NY just the same as the south. If OP is serious then he is the reason people in NYC are pre-judged to be arrogant and rude.

Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.

New York is great in its own way for a ton of obvious reasons, but to hate on people who are not from there or choose not to live there is absurd. Many people seek to establish themselves in the city but never want to live in NYC forever. Snooty 6s with overblown egos, shanty apartments, armies of disease carrying roaches, subway rats, destitute homelessness, copious pollution, and frozen traffic jams can get old. By the way, you can't claim to be cultured and bash all of "Middle America" as if nothing of historical or cultural significance exists outside of NYC. You're just as backwards as any swamp person who refuses to leave the Florida marsh.

AMEN brotha. AMEN.

-Unfortunately stuck in NYC due to professional reasons but longing to move to southern California or Chicago

^This. Racism should never be tolerated, but don't hate people for where they're from or because they didn't have the same opportunities NYC provided you growing up.

HOWEVER if that person happens to "support their lifestyle" off their fashion blog (or food blog etc.) that they started when they moved here 3 months ago "because this city is just SO INSPIRING! (from what I've seen between 14th and 42nd streets)"...then hate, my friend. Hate with all the bitterness being born in this wretched hell hole has bestowed upon you.
