Guilty about Diversity Programme

I applied and got an offer for a place on a low-socioeconomic diversity programme.

One of the criteria is for my household to have under a certain level of income.

Whilst I did not lie when providing evidence, let’s say I was fortunate with the timing of applying to the programme. Not too long ago, I would have not qualified for the programme by approximately a 20% margin.

I feel ridiculously guilty as I have many friends who are much worse off than me.

I know I technically haven’t breached any rules, but on a moral level I feel terrible. I’m heavily considering withdrawing, but I know how screwed recruiting has been and I really don’t want to through away an opportunity for a full-time role.

Looking for any guidance - I feel worse and worse as each day passes. I especially feel like starting my career with something essentially relying on an exploitation amplifies the guilt so much more.

Bro there are women who's dads run hedge funds who utilise female diversity programmes I think you're fine on the ethics front

If you feel bad, drop out of the program.  It's pretty simple.  You're obviously on here looking for people to tell you you did the right thing, that it's okay to get ahead in whatever way you can, etc etc.

If your conscience is telling you you've done wrong, then make it right.  Either way, shut up about it.  Only you know the value of your own principles.
