If you go to social media you will typically see pairings such as super fat guy with skinny, big tits and big ass hot gf. Or old guy with hot gf. Or fat old guy with hot gf. Or just otherwise hideous man with hot gf. Or maybe even normal looking guy with extremely hot gf. When these things show up there is a sentiment of the man being successful in some way. But is that really true?
All the richest, most powerful men I know have wives roughly their age (or appropriately younger, so 1-5 year difference) and not particularly attrictive (so like 6's or 7's). Their wives are also usually overeducated. Before you cancel me, by overeducated I mean that they also had an expensive upbringing with elite schools, elite universities and usually elite graduate programs, only to then be a housewife because their husband is literally too rich. There is no point in bringing a 2nd income when your husband is bringing like 50 incomes on his own. So, to me, it would seem ridiculous that it would be a good idea to be like a 50 year old man with an 18 year old girlfriend. Maybe it means you have money to spend, but you don't have real power. My working theory here is that power comes from status, and while a pair of tits may convey status to 15 year olds, what really conveys status is having a wife whose combined education and upbringing costed more than the GDP of an African country, but who then you can afford to just have at home. Perhaps because our monkey lizard brain remembers the old days when, when you become indisposed for whatever reason, your wife would take care of your affairs so you want to have a smart, mature wife as opposed to just a thot who WILL steal all your money if given access to your accounts.
But who knows, maybe I am just stupid. If I look away from my own life and look at the powerful men I don't know... I'm sorry to say, they also all have ugly wives. I'm talking Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos (pre-divorce and post-divorce), Bill Gates (pre-divorce), Obama, Joe Biden, etc. Of course, they are 'ugly' to me (a mid 20's guy) because they are grown women in their 50s+ so of course I wouldn't bang them, so I'm not meaning for this to reflect bad on them (not that these extremely powerful and wealthy women care what I think). So, this begs the question. Why doesn't Obama ditch Michelle and then get seen at clubs grabbing Ice Spice's ass (or insert literally any hot young woman). Is it a prestige thing? Is having a thot wife NOT seen as prestigious to the upper classes? Or is it something else? I'm just saying it seems that the hierarchy is like this:
Poor man -> ugly wife
Rich guy -> thot wife (super hot supermodel type, 18 - 22 years old)
Actual wealthy man -> ugly wife
Date and marry who you want my man, these choices are based on your own preferences rather than what appears to be prestigious to the prestigious wso off topic forum

I am arguing precisely against that sentiment (the idea that those men are successful, which is very common in social media for some reason). But that is precisely my point. Why are lesser rich men happy with that outcome (be with the thot, get burned by the thot) while upper rich men do not indulge. I mean, for some, like Bill Clinton, the answer is clearly because they were cheating on their ugly wives all the time. Others got their kick in Epstein's island. But it is just an interesting thing to think about. Some men fall for the thot trap, others don't.
Contrary to the expectations and opinions of 23 year old analysts fantasizing about the day they'll be worth billions, most people who marry or settle down with one person do so because they find that other human being to be someone with whom they share more than a physical attraction. Most people are looking for something more in their life than an endless succession of one night stands, and the degree to which you connect with someone has nothing to do with their appearance beyond a very minimal baseline.
To your underlying point, a lot of it is because people who come into relatively small amounts of money are concerned far more with the appearance of being wealthy than the reality. Having a hot wife/girlfriend is just a trophy (hence... "trophy wife") the same as wearing expensive clothes or driving an expensive car. The fact that the person they're with is an expensive handful to put up with is a feature, not a bug. If I'm poor and win the lottery, my only guide to how to spend that money is what I heard about in pop culture - what do I see/hear other flamboyant rich people do if not buying nice things and churning through a succession of hot women (or men). Folks who are quietly wealthy are quiet. Besides, that isn't as much "fun".
Saying "some men fall for the thot trap" is no different than saying "some men are stupid." No shit. Not all wealthy people are intelligent, and certainly many of them are emotionally or psychologically stupid (if that's a thing). I mean, it's a cliche that rich guys "fall" for hot younger women who want them for their money.
Long story made short, there isn't any "prestige" around marrying someone hot. And if you think there is, you're the kind of person who is going to marry someone for their looks and have them take half your money. And probably then complain about how unfair that is. Marry or date someone you respect, who brings something to the table. And if you aren't interested in that, don't marry, go the Derek Jeter route and just sleep with a bunch of hot women with no strings attached.
