On average, not as nearly as impressive as the firms I listed.
Based on the most helpful WSO content, the companies that have been highlighted for their reputation and employee satisfaction are Blackstone, Citadel, and D.E. Shaw. These firms have been recognized for having the "proudest employees" and being highly recommended by their own staff. D.E. Shaw, in particular, is known for being incredibly selective during the hiring process, often choosing candidates with strong backgrounds in science. In fact, one of their first hires was Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon.
However, it's important to note that the "smartest" company can be subjective and depends on various factors such as the industry, the specific team, and the individual's personal career goals and work style.

Well when you say pound of pound it instantly excludes any large company. Even Google would not be up there, just the Deepmind division
I think you hit on the top ones, though I'm not even sure OpenAI would be up there given there are so many LLMs these days
