Pope: Number of Catholics worldwide ~1.2B. Weighted average price of a slave (estimate for $ value of a person) is US$430. Pope's AUM is therefore ~US$516B.

Well... yes. Vastly undervalued, IMO. I'd wager that the average Catholic person is likely to be worth far more than the average slave, but still. Let's just say that it's a conservative estimate.
Since the Pope also has a bank which invests over €5Bln of AuM, I would say that this is not even a challenge. Probably we can discuss if it is more prestigious the Pope or Stephen A. Schwarzman. I would still say the Pope since I am pretty sure he would be able to raise more money...
A megafund can only raise money as long as it doesn't consistently under perform or is distraught via illegal practices. The pope can make people do whatever he wants and raise money till the end of time.
I'd go with the Pope: millions of fanatical followers, millions of normal followers, billions in the bank, trillions in tangible assets, a baller house and cars, and the oldest standing army in the world.
Show me a fund manager with that shit.
Disclaimer: I am in no way a fan of, nor endorse the Pope.

So, Ernst von Freyberg, MD at DC Advisory Partners, has just been appointed as Chairman at IOR (Vatican Bank). How does this position rank in terms of prestige?
I'm grateful that I have two middle fingers, I only wish I had more.

Also the pope has his own country..
Right...but what about the Pope vs the President of the United States of America?
judging by some of the clowns we have had, i'll vote for pope still.

Pope has no interest tax shield though. His WACC is whack.
