Finance division at an IBank vs. Non-finance company

So, I've been browsing this site and other finance-related forums and I see that a lot of people recommend joining a finance rotational leadership program as a good alternative to IBD and consulting.

I also realized that many advise to do such a role at a normal company as opposed to a Ibank. Why is this? Does it make that much of a difference whether one does a leadership rotation program at a manufacturer vs. ibank?
