Need Help Deciding Between 2 Offers: Public Finance at top BB or Software Consulting T2 Firm

Interned at a PE firm this summer and really liked the industry but not the role. I'm leaning towards the Public Finance role because its at a better firm, pay, and development. I'm not too sure what I want to do in the future, but I want to be working in tech/PE/high finance. Would taking the PubFinance role hurt my chances in the future?

If working in tech/PE and "high finance" is your goal; then Public Finance may not be the best route for you IF you have another offer on the table. I say that as a big fan of Public Finance and having done a tour of duty in that corner of the industry. To me it is super fun and interesting, but by definition it is going to be limited to debt capital that is relatively lower risk (relative to tech and PE) and the clients and marketing efforts are extremely different.

They are not totally non-transferable skills, but I would not expect there to be a lot of folks moving back and forth between those sectors.

Note: My experience was at much lower end of the spectrum than a BB so the industry may be totally different at that end of things. I don't know what I don't know.
