Thinking of moving over to banking.
I'm at a satellite office of a PE firm headquartered in NY. We do the same things, it's just that we're a lot smaller on the west coast. I've been here for 3 months since graduating college.
The reason I chose this job was because I thought it'd be a good learning experience, however I'm slowly realizing that that's not really the case. There were three analysts before I started. Two left for another job after their contracts were up and one transferred to the NY office. Right now, there's only one other analyst, and he only started a couple months before me.
They let go of the associate who was unofficially put in charge to train me, so now I'm just working with a director and MD. The MD is out almost 100% of the time and the director is out 50% of the time, and when he's actually in the office, always on calls behind closed doors.
I just feel like I got the short end of the stick with no senior analyst or associate there to help out. Like last night, I basically stayed in the office for most of the night just trying to figure out the financials for a portfolio company, since everyone on my team (the MD and Director) leaves before 6pm.
I don't really know what to do. Should I stick it out even though I feel like it's not a great exp and there not really any brand name to our company; or should I try to move to a BB? They paid me a $15k sign on bonus which I'd have to pay back if I stay less than a year.
