Which will help more?

So, I have an offer with IBM as a Financial Analyst and one with CME Group as an Analyst in their Financial Projects and Controls division. Both offer similar pay/benefits, but what I am wondering is which could help me the most in the long run?

I'd like to obtain my CFA within a year or so, and work on my MBA with in a few years. As for a career, I'd like to eventually become a CFO of a corporation (gotta aim high!) or work with either a hedge fund or venture capital firm.

So does anyone see an obvious benefit of one position over the other? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! If you need more information, just ask and I will provide.

CFA within one year or so? Does that mean you cleared the level 2 exam? Why are you doing CFA and MBA both?

Under my tutelage, you will grow from boys to men. From men into gladiators. And from gladiators into SWANSONS.

When you see the word "Controls" in your title or group name, run for your life. IBM all the way.

Just curious, but why is that?

What are controls? Internal rules to make sure things are going properly. Typically set by some combination of compliance, management and other teams. Controls group verifies they are being followed, and reports discrepancies. And keeps lots of logs of these problems, with resolution deadlines and contacts. And sometimes even a log of logs to keep track of how logs are updated and issues are resolved. After enough days, items are escalated to next level of "resolution". And there sure is another log to keep track of that.

Sound like fun?
