Morale hasn't been great since the first lockdown. we can't travel, we can't meet with partner firms, everything has to be online/over the phone. younger people have it much worse, they are mostly single and without any contact if they live alone. we haven't hired anyone since last year, and it will be like this until 2022. our interns were let go and they didn't receive an offer.

so, overall it is difficult to deliver in this environment. Some of our investments are down as well, we have a small focus on retail and travel.

Pretty good at my firm overall. Zoom life has worked out pretty well. Although nobody likes being locked down, I think the flexibility to work from anywhere has been a strong plus. We all have friends that spent weeks/months in Miami and Austin (myself included) in 2020, and WFH has opened up flexibility to do mid-day workouts, TV, naps, etc. So although the pandemic has been rough on us all, there have been enough silver linings to keep morale afloat.

Am I the only one who doesn't want to go back into the office? Life is so much nicer if you can wake up late-ish, do a random work-outs during the week, cook some lunch etc. More time to socialize with your actual friends as well

I think if you're life / firm culture was pretty good pre-COVID, you likely enjoyed WFH (at least I did).  More flexibility through the day, and co-workers made the effort to keep you in the loop and keep up daily interactions.  Definitely was rough in stretches given portco performance issues, everyone scrambling around near-term cash forecasts and PPP loan applications.

At a large cap firm now that has a bad culture rep and WFH only exacerbated things from what I can tell - morale is definitely low.
