IB/PE Abroad?

I am about to start my time as an investment banking analyst at GS/MS/JPM in NYC. I know it's early but my goal is to exit to an UMM/PE hedge fund and potentially a top US B school after two years in PE. However, I also want to live abroad for a year if possible after my IB stint. So what plan makes more sense? Should I do a year as an associate at an international office of my BB and recruit for US PE as if I'm a first year during my second year and start that role after my year abroad. Or should I try to recruit to a MF/UMM PE firm that has an office abroad/is based abroad where I am looking? For reference I am thinking Tel Aviv or London would be my top picks of where to look.
