Undergrad to PE Pension Funds
Anyone knows if Canadian pension funds recruit FT analysts straight out of undergrad?
How hard is it and would you consider it to be better than starting in IB first?

CPP and OMERS both have a rotational program - I heard teachers hire directly into groups as of rn, but very rare and even in the case that they do, it's offers given to previous interns. I also know of BCI hiring analysts straight from undergrad but they're HQ'ed in Victoria, so that may be a downside for some people. Personally, I'd take a pension fund over an ib position, but with the ib position I believe it does open more doors. However, in terms of competitiveness, I think it is much harder to get a spot in a pension than it is to get a spot in banking, due to the limited number of positions available.
I think their real estate arm, QuadReal, is based out of Vancouver though which isn't as bad
OMERS and CPP have rotational programs for graduates; Teachers has direct placements into groups. Other pension funds don't hire directly out of school; they usually hire out of IBs.
anybody know of comp at OMERS/CPP/OTPP for the new grad positions? When OMERS rotational program started 3 years ago they tried to pay something like $120-130 all in which was apparently relatively low and people complained about
OMERS pays 120-130k all in for analysts. Not sure about CPP though
