Investment Sales or Commercial Lending

Just curious what everyone's opinion was on which path opens more doors for future opportunities with a REIT/REPE/Developer. For investment sales, I mean Eastdil/HFF/etc. For commercial lending I'm thinking particularly middle market. I'm currently working as an analyst in CRE lending at a MM bank and was wondering if searching for a position in investment sales would better position me for a future on the equity investment side. Obviously going straight to REIT/REPE/Developer would be fastest way, and I'll continue to look for positions, but I'm looking for other positions that would help develop skills sought after by the equity investors.
