SL Green - Comp, Deals

WSO - I'm sure you've heard of SL Green. My experience is that they can do a lot of different kind of deals and have a ton of flexibility for REIT.

Few questions:
- What does comp look like at place like this? How about Vornado? Analyst, Associate, VP?
- Do these guys have other funds they manage? Separate accounts? I see their name in the lending space here and there doing pref and mezz.

Thanks!

Comp is known to be among the best relative to other REITs. They have been most active in the debt space. On the equity side, have been selling much more than acquiring.

VPs there (age 28-33) make about the same as an associate at an EB (25-28), so it’s really good money for real estate

Fuckin my way thru nyc one chick at a time

Doing some most the most interesting and impressive deals in the city ie One vanderbilt

Pay is similar to some Mid tier REPE firms from my gathering

Coworkers are smart, decorated individuals

Culture is not positive from my experience. From meeting w junior folks at the firm, they seem....overworked and quite frankly unhealthy. Its real estate, you shouldn’t be killing yourself working 80 hours a week, which is the culture at the firm as I as told. May be I met them during a week of a flu epidemic.

I second this comment. Heard the same from those who have worked / interviewed at SL Green. Pay slightly below a top tier REIT/Megafund/REPE shop. Super demanding hours and favoritism for promotions. Have actually heard some pretty funny stories regarding what they make interns do. That being said, folks who work there have great backgrounds and work on some interesting stuff.
