Resume for DCM Analyst?
I've spent the last 1.5 years in investment-grade DCM at a bank in the 4-7 spot on the league tables. I'm looking for a change, and it's not because I hate DCM, but rather I feel (probably like most junior bankers) that if I don't get out now, I'll be pigeonholed. I'd like to get into PE or a credit-oriented hedge fund.
I'm in the process of updating my resume, which is something I haven't done in a while, and was wondering what a DCM resume should look like. I've seen IB templates and they are very deal-focused, but given I've worked in the IG space, most of our deals have not been highly time-intensive. Now, that isn't to say all I've done is jackoff comps for 1.5 years. On the contrary, I've worked on structuring a wide variety of deals (covered bonds, some mortgage-backed securities, capital trusts, opcos onlending to holdcos, etc...), and also on buybacks/tenders/exchanges (despite being a junior guy, I was almost the go-to for LM work) but a lot of that work has been more strategic than modeling -- i.e., I probably understand a lot of debt structures more than the average junior IBer (though probably not as well as a sponsors or LevFin guy) but haven't had to model a ton.
So, I guess the gist is, what the heck should an IG DCM resume aiming for PE/credit HF work look like? Any samples would be greatly appreciated.
