Cornell MPP v Duke MMS v Tufts MIB v Georgetown MPP
I have admits to all the programs.
I want to get into MBB or even outside the main (thinking Oliver Wyman, OC&C, AT Kearney)
As MBB are brand whores, I have narrowed my choices to the above. I am still waiting on Chicago and USC but likely will end somewhere above.
I like the Cornell program because it allows an ivy league name, diverse electives from variety of schools at Cornell and employment into public sector from MPP is very good.
Duke MMS was my initial first choice but have cooled on the topic.
GTown I like because it gives me choice of a dual degree.
My question, best selection for MBB?

What was your undergrad school and gpa and have you worked? Im asking because I would like to pursue this path, just trying to see what it takes to get in
Undergrad at Oxford. Law, 3.5GPA
Got tons of legal work experience, international and within London
Currently working for small consultancy company.

Any thoughts on how likely/common it is for MPP students to go into the private sector?
Georgetown, for whatever reason, doesn't seem to place as well as similarly regarded schools. I also have a deep and abiding love of drink and vagina which I feel is much more prevalent in that part of NC, unless you like the JAPPY chicks at GW, you will have a tougher time at G'town.
Plus Duke is business related which, i assume it was you want to do.

Duke seems logical but worried about potential placements.
Why are you going to an MPP program if your goal is end up in consulting? Are you looking specifically for firms that have dedicated public sector practices that they recruit for separately?
Yeah, absolutely. That was the aim. Bain and McKinsey are big recruiters in this area

I'd go with Georgetown, not because of recruiting, but because at duke you'll be the odd man in a group of 22 year old fifth years.
Yeah, a bit of an issue. Could be a good thing as well depending on how you spin it, esp. in terms of placements.
Given that you're interested specifically in the public sector practice of a consulting firm, I'm not sure how much knowledge you can expect people on this board to have. People here are generally familiar with the traditional strategic practices of these firms.
well, im not so sure about the field you are interested in, but i am going to Duke MMS for 2012.. so come ,) i am choosing it over LSE's MSc Management as I want to do US-China related business in the future, mainly brand management and management consulting. For business, Fuqua is probably the best choice from your selection.
Whats your background like, if you dont mind sharing?
Mainly looking into remaining in consulting, ideally public sector/government related. MPP places into that. Duke was my first choice initially but now worried about placing against Duke undergrads who got into the program. Ideally I want another shot at OCR. For that Duke is the best I guess.
i got double undergrad degree from EU school, but not well known. then a year at USC Marshall and Renmin University. some LA and Beijing internships at known companies.
i don't think you will be disadvantaged against undergrads from Duke if u come from Oxford. You will be unique when applying to jobs in the US and quite international, which most US undergrads will lack. but again, I am looking at Duke Fuqua in terms of marketing, which is quite strong. in terms of general consulting, im not sure but should still be a target school.
Add USC and UPenn to the conversation. Got admits there too.

I like Duke but concerned about the July start as it prevents me from working during the summer. Plus also I'm a little older then everyone else. I'll be surrounded by 22 year olds (has its perks no doubt!)
Tufts is the best if you want to work for an international organization.
