Duke MBA: 34 caught cheating
Thirty-four first-year business graduate students at Duke University cheated on a take-home final exam, a judicial board has found, in what officials called the most widespread cheating episode in the business school’s history.
Nine of the students face expulsion, according to the ruling, which was distributed within the business school on Friday. Fifteen students were suspended for a year and given a failing grade in the course; nine were given a failing grade in the course, and one got a failing grade on the exam. Four students accused of cheating were exonerated.
ok?
That symbol is really scary, I didn't put it in when I posted!
This sounds pretty extreme.
wow, that sucks for them. expelled for cheating? wow.
Is b-school that hard that you need to cheat?
some schools care about academic integrity...

they are right to expel the students, i don't think it's harsh.
Cheating on a take-home final? Come on, you've already been handed a free pass since you get to use reference materials and notes. Why on earth would you want to risk messing up a good thing?
they got the penalty for being dumbasses. who the fuck cheats on a take-home? that's like extra work to purposely fuck up.
Wow,,, this is going to have severe career implications for most involved. Obviously, for those suspended for the year, do you lie on your resume about beginning your MBA in 2006 and then completing it in 2009, law school style.
It's sad how a very decent MBA program attracts that type of candidate. Wow!
sad maybe, but dont be naive. this sort of thing happens everywhere. but only some get caught.
I wonder how the cheating worked. A couple people helping each other is super common but 34 is weird. How do you even share answers with 30 people?
It can't be that hard to share answers with 30 people. Word of mouth spreads fast plus if they're all in the same class I'm sure they talk. Definitely stupid on their part.
They should all be expelled.
I'm not even sure HOW one would cheat on a take-home final.....
What are the rules about that sort of thing?
Take it home, use notes etc (although they might restrict it to just your textbook and class notes), but do not talk to anyone else about it.
Bad joke deleted.
falsely accused kid is not the same as expelled for cheating
it was a joke, in poor taste.
no kidding
this really sucks for them
