Duke MBA: 34 caught cheating

Business School Cheating

Thirty-four first-year business graduate students at Duke University cheated on a take-home final exam, a judicial board has found, in what officials called the most widespread cheating episode in the business school’s history.

Nine of the students face expulsion, according to the ruling, which was distributed within the business school on Friday. Fifteen students were suspended for a year and given a failing grade in the course; nine were given a failing grade in the course, and one got a failing grade on the exam. Four students accused of cheating were exonerated.

Wow,,, this is going to have severe career implications for most involved. Obviously, for those suspended for the year, do you lie on your resume about beginning your MBA in 2006 and then completing it in 2009, law school style.

It's sad how a very decent MBA program attracts that type of candidate. Wow!

sad maybe, but dont be naive. this sort of thing happens everywhere. but only some get caught.

I wonder how the cheating worked. A couple people helping each other is super common but 34 is weird. How do you even share answers with 30 people?

Take it home, use notes etc (although they might restrict it to just your textbook and class notes), but do not talk to anyone else about it.
